On Wednesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán traveled to Marrakesh, Morocco, where he took part in a meeting of the leaders of the IDC-CDI (Centrist Democrat International), a political coalition of Christian Democrats from around the world. The Hungarian Prime Minister is one of the vice-presidents of the organization.

The Prime Minister held talks with Andrés Pastrana, Chairman of the Centrist Democrat International, in Marrakesh on Thursday, said Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief.

Fact

The IDC-CDI was founded in 1961, originally under the name of Christian Democrat World Union. The organization is dedicated to promoting Christian democracy, and representing Christian, conservative values. It brings together 80 conservative parties from around the world.

During the meeting, they reviewed the situation of the international coalition and the right-wing conservative forces, as well as the challenges to national sovereignty worldwide. Key topics of discussion included the war in Ukraine and the economic crisis that followed.

During his visit, Orbán also held talks with Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch of Morocco.
