Viktor Orbán Expects a Golden Era under Trump’s Presidency

Hungary Today 2025.01.17.

After the Prime Minister returned from his holiday in India at the beginning of the year, he spoke in his usual interview on Kossuth Radio on Friday morning about the most important current political issues affecting the country. The conversation focused on the inauguration of the US President, about which Mr. Orbán said he expected a golden era under Donald Trump’s presidency, reports Index.

“From Tuesday, a different sun will rise over the Western world,” the Prime Minister said. According to him, Donald Trump lost the election in 2020, because the Republicans had cheated. “In 2020, if they hadn’t cheated, Donald Trump would have remained president and then there would have been no Ukrainian-Russian war,” Viktor Orbán concluded. He added that he thinks the Democrats are globalists, with a big network behind them, one of the main men being George Soros. According to Orbán, it was coded that Hungarian-American relations would reach a low point under the Biden administration.

Regarding the future, the Prime Minister said he had an agreement with Trump to start a “fantastic, great golden age” in Hungarian-American relations. This, he added, would also have an impact on Hungarians’ wallets.

Speaking about the former US ambassador David Pressman, who left Hungary at the beginning of the week, Orbán said that Pressman’s job was to press Hungary into the liberal, democrat “gender camp,” ready to spread the word with war. “But Hungary is not that kind of country, we have a mission of our own,” he emphasized.

To have people come here and then take away what you fought for, that does not work,”

he said. He added that it was no coincidence that he had never once met him, as it was clear from the start why he was sent here.

One of Mr. Pressman’s last actions was announcing that the United States had placed the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, Antal Rogán, on the official sanctions list of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department. On this matter, Orbán pointed out that by putting Mr. Rogán on the sanctions list, the Americans had strengthened his position more than anything else, reports Telex.

The Prime Minister also talked about how liberals are now “fleeing” from America to Brussels, and that the biggest goal for the next period is to push the Soros empire out of Europe and back to America. According to him, Hungary will be the first country where the Soros network can be dismantled and its organizations ousted. He hopes that not only Hungary will do so, but also the other members of the Patriots for Europe political party family.

Mr. Orbán emphasized that the biggest corruption scandal in Europe today is that “Brussels is in Soros’ pocket.” “If there is corruption, this is it,” he said. He emphasized that the money from Brussels must be recovered from the Soros network and not a single forint should be given to them.

Regarding the Hungarian EU Presidency last year, Orbán mentioned that the biggest goal was to make peace “the topic of discussion,” He said that much progress had been made in this respect, and that from now on, countries larger than Hungary could take on the task of representing this cause. Another important achievement was the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen.

Hungary has performed above its size and weight, and the most important thing now is for Brussels to adapt to the new situation,”

he highlighted.

The Prime Minister also said it was time to “throw sanctions out of the window” and establish a sanctions-free relationship with Russia. This will take time, but according to him, “sobering up” will come in Brussels. Mr. Orbán pointed out that Ukraine was a serious economic threat to Europe. Therefore, he would introduce serious protection measures to ensure that, for example, the Hungarian and Polish agricultural industries are not harmed. “We must also start to deal with Ukraine through a non-war lens. We are talking about a country that is unable to sustain itself and whose economy is not linked to the EU system,” he recalled.

Orbán reiterated that in economic terms, 2025 will be a fantastic year for Hungary.

The most important goal, he said, was for everyone to have a job, and for those who work to be able to support their families on their salary.

“2025 will be a year of strengthening the middle class. I am talking about people who own their own property, have their own income, and can support themselves,” he said. Those who are below that level will be the ones they want to catch up with.
