Viktor Orbán Could Soon Meet with Vladimir Putin

Next week, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will attend the Belt and Road Forum in China, where he might meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has also accepted an invitation to attend. The Hungarian Prime Minister will be the only EU head of government to attend the forum in Beijing next Wednesday, Politico reports.

As the news site writes, the Budapest-Belgrade railroad line will also be discussed at the event. Although Hungarian opposition-linked press reports claim that “Chinese contractors are unable to deliver EU-standard railway systems,” and that the project has been stopped, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says that everything is working as planned.

the Hungarian Prime Minister might meet with Vladimir Putin, as the Russian President has also accepted the invitation from China.

The Russian news site Regnum reports that Putin and the Chinese President will hold talks during the event. In addition, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Beijing on October 16-18 on the occasion of the Belt and Road Forum and will also participate in a meeting with its counterpart, Wang Yi.
