The Ministry of Agriculture, through the work of the national park directorates, has implemented nature conservation developments on a previously unseen scale.

More than 41 billion forints (101 million euros) were spent for this purpose, the ministry told Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to the statement, the majority of the funds were aimed at restoring habitats, and thanks to more than 100 projects implemented in recent years and currently being completed, the condition of natural areas, nature conservation management, and the preservation of natural values will improve on an area of about 180,000 hectares.

Thanks to 16 habitat restoration interventions completed in 2022, the condition of the natural environment has improved on almost 19,000 hectares.

Further improvements have been made to ecotourism infrastructure and environmental education activities in the national parks.
