Airbnb and Other Hungarian Hostels Help Refugees from Ukraine

Not only Airbnb, but also Hungarian accommodation providers and even private individuals have responded to the Ukrainian refugee wave. Airbnb is providing accommodation to 100,000 people thanks to donors and accommodation providers alike, Index recently wrote. The Hungarian accommodation portal szallas.hu asks its partners for a discount of at least 50 percent of the accommodation price.

Szallas.hu has contacted all their partners in Hungary and asked them in a letter to join the call. The accommodation provider is asking their partners for a discount of at least 50 percent of the accommodation price, but cannot be obliged to do so. Since it is not possible to set up free accommodation on the website, the accommodation provider can offer a discount between 50 and 99%.

Szallas.hu will offer commission-free rates to the partners who join and will soon create a page with the available places. They are also looking for volunteer translators to help them communicate.

Since Friday, 292 partners have already indicated that they would like to offer their accommodation in some form,”
