Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the measures restricting imports of Ukrainian grain.
At a joint press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Kiev, the Ukrainian President reacted to the fact that several EU countries have banned imports of Ukrainian agricultural products because their duty-free status has adversely affected local farmers, and because Ukraine uses processes and chemicals that are banned in the EU.
Protectionist measures […] by EU countries neighboring Ukraine are completely unacceptable,”
Last week, Brussels adopted temporary rules to ban exports of Ukrainian wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, after these countries expressed concern that cheap Ukrainian grain threatened the livelihoods of local farmers, Mandiner reported.
