Hungary’s public media provider MTVA on Saturday announced the launch of a donation drive to assist people in trouble because of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
The extraordinary donation drive, called “It’s Good to Be Good!”, is the initiative of Hungarian President János Áder.
“For public media, it is extraordinarily important to participate with the tools of media in the support of Hungarians living in Transcarpathia and of refugees, showing Hungarian solidarity, the efforts of good-willed people to help those in need, and coordinated assistance in the framework of the Bridge for Transcarpathia programme,” MTVA said in a statement.
Donations and assistance for ethnic Hungarian living in the Transcarpathia region of Ukraine as well as refugees fleeing the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will be solicited in a programme broadcast on the Duna Televízio channel, while all public media channels will showcase the efforts of individuals or local councils to provide families arriving from Ukraine with accommodation and food in their daily programmes from Monday.
