Two separate bus accidents on Sunday left several people injured, including children and students, MTI reported.

Nineteen people, including eleven children, were injured in a bus with Ukrainian license plates that crashed early Sunday morning on Highway 442 between Kunszentmárton and Tiszaföldvár, both towns located in central Hungary. Under circumstances that remain unclear, the bus drove into a ditch and then overturned on its side near a railroad embankment. There were 77 people on board the bus.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Szolnok (central Hungary), Szentes (southeastern Hungary), and Kecskemét (central Hungary). Among them, a 17-year-old girl remains in critical condition, while a 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. Ambassador Fedir Shandor and Ukrainian consuls also assisted passengers who were uninjured at the scene; they were given temporary accommodation and breakfast at the cultural center in Kunszentmárton. The Ukrainian embassy also set up hotlines for those affected.

On the same day, in the afternoon, there was another bus accident near Subotica (Szabadka), just across the border in northern Serbia: a bus carrying Hungarian tourists collided with a truck trailer.

Eight Hungarian students suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Subotica Hospital, but their condition is stable and they have all since returned to their companions and are now on their way home.
The Consulate General in Subotica remains in contact with local authorities and is assisting the students in crossing the border at Röszke (southern Hungary) as soon as possible.
