Tusványos 2025: Dialogue, Debate, and Music in the Heart of Transylvania

MTI-Hungary Today 2025.07.22.

One of the most important public and cultural meeting places for Hungarians living beyond the border, the 34th Bálványos Summer University and Student Camp, awaits visitors with nearly 500 programs between July 23 and 28, in Baile Tusnad (Tusnádfürdő), Romania.

The aim of the event remains unchanged: to promote dialogue between Hungarians, while also providing a forum for debate and different points of view every year. The organizers emphasized that Tusványos is not only a public forum, but also a community-building, thought-provoking, and cultural event.

This year’s political discussions will focus on the war in Ukraine, the Israeli-Iranian conflict, and the Parajd salt mine collapse, among other topics. Other key topics will include energy security, the competitiveness of the European economy, and the transformation of the world order.

In keeping with tradition, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s speech on Saturday is one of the most eagerly awaited events – many believe that it sets the tone for the government’s thinking for the coming year.

The Prime Minister’s speech will be preceded by a number of panel discussions and professional debates on topics including national policy, youth, foreign affairs, innovation, and social policy.

The afternoon public programs will be followed by evening concerts. Hooligans and Tankcsapda will take the stage on the first day, followed by well-known performers such as Magna Cum Laude, Republic, Magdi Rúzsa, the Bagossy Brothers Company, and ValMar. There will be music stages at several locations.

This year, the organizers are once again placing great emphasis on family-friendly programs: a playhouse, craft workshops, and children’s programs await the youngest visitors.

Participation requires prior registration, daytime programs are free of charge, and wristbands must be purchased for the evening concerts. Please note that due to the full occupancy of the Tusnádfürdő campsite, the organizers request that those who can do so approach the venue on foot.
