Viktor Orbán gave an interview to US media personality Tucker Carlson, which was published on Tuesday. During the interview, the Hungarian Prime Minister said, among other things, that former US President Donald Trump should be called back because only he can save the Western world. The interview received a number of international responses, including from Trump.
In the interview, the prime minister said that he believed Donald Trump had the best foreign policy of the last years, as he had not started a new war and had found common ground with the Chinese and the North Koreans. The former Republican president himself reacted to the part of the interview concerning him, sharing it on his social media page Truth, thanking the Hungarian Prime Minister for his words.
As reported earlier by Hungary Today, Elon Musk, the owner of the social networking site formerly known as Twitter and now operating under the name X, also watched the interview. He took to his social media page to praise our family policy, saying Hungary is trying hard to address their birth rate.
In response to this, President of Hungary Katalin Novák responded on X, drawing Musk’s attention to the Budapest Demographic Summit in the autumn, which she said is the largest international gathering of pro-family forces, with the participation of many heads of state, prime ministers, and influencers, where people can learn more about the Hungarian family support system. The president added that they are looking forward to seeing Musk at this event.
Indeed, @elonmusk, we do. We are looking forward to the Budapest #Demographic Summit, the largest international gathering of pro-family forces, which will be held between September 14 and 15, with the participation of many heads of state, prime ministers and influencers, where…

Balázs Orbán also reacted to Musk’s post. The prime minister’s political director listed on his social media page why Hungary is family-friendly. The reasons include personal income tax exemption for those under 25 and mothers under 30, family tax relief, and state-subsidized housing loans for families.
.@elonmusk Hungary takes #FamilyFriendly policies very seriously:
✅0% PIT for working adults up to 25
✅0% PIT for for mothers up to 30
✅0% PIT for mothers with at least 4 children
✅ student loan debt fully cancelled for mothers under 30
✅ every married couple where the… https://t.co/etRA7gM1eb— Balázs Orbán (@BalazsOrban_HU) August 30, 2023
However, not everyone was glad to hear the interview with Viktor Orbán. Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko took to his Facebook page to object to the segment on Ukraine, Népszava reported.
“The Prime Minister of Hungary believes that the West should make an agreement with the President of the Russian Federation on the security of Ukraine, which should not include neither the return of Crimea nor the membership of Ukraine in NATO. He is also convinced that the best chance for peace is to cease military support of Ukraine,” he wrote.
Nikolenko added that they “do not know how it is in Hungary, but Ukraine does not trade neither its territories nor its sovereignty. And the world will not trade.”
