Valuable treasures from the collection of the Déri Museum in Debrecen (eastern Hungary) will be on display at the exhibition entitled “Dynasties, the first kingdoms of prehistoric Europe,” which will open in the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) in Spain on March 26, the Debrecen institution told MTI on Monday.
In addition to the bronze sword and axe found at Téglás (eastern Hungary), gold jewellery, bone tools, and ceramic objects from the collection of the Déri Museum will also be on display.
The statement quotes Toni Perez, President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, as saying that
this exhibition is not just a collection of objects, it is a story that has been created through years of work and research, a story that connects us with European culture itself.”
According to the information, valuable items from the Déri Museum’s collection have recently been sent to Canada: a model of a Bronze Age wagon from Pocsaj (eastern Hungary) and copper picks, which will be on display at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, in the exhibition entitled “The First Kings of Europe.” The exhibition opens on April 4.
Additionally, Kultura.hu reports an exhibition at the Field Museum in Chicago, one of the world’s largest natural history museums, that was on display until January this year, featuring some 700 never-before-seen objects from 26 museums in 11 countries. The exhibition presented the archaeological treasures of the region, including Hungary, from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. From Hungary, the exhibits were selected from seven museums: the Hungarian National Museum, the Budapest History Museum, the Déri Museum in Debrecen, the King St. Stephen Museum (Szent István Király Museum) in Székesfehérvár (central Hungary), the Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged (southern Hungary), the Koszta József Museum in Szentes (southeastern Hungary), and the Munkácsy Mihály Museum in Békéscsaba (southeastern Hungary).
