Transformation at Hungaroring: Stunning Renovation ahead of Next Year’s F1 Event

Hungary Today 2024.10.26.
The Hungarian Grand Prix grid began at the Hungaroring on July 21, 2024.

Construction is well underway at the Hungaroring (Mogyoród, near Budapest), where work has been in full swing since the last Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, writes Világgazdaság. Several pictures of the progress of the project have recently been published on the track’s Facebook page.

It was written on the social networking site that in the period since the Hungarian Grand Prix, the contractor’s workers had drilled 641 piles for the paddock building foundations and 730 piles for the main stand. On a daily basis, 470 people are working on the site of the largest sports facility in the country, and the number of workers is expected to exceed 1,000.

This investment in the Hungaroring will cost HUF 78.9 billion (EUR 195 million) and will include the renewal of the main stand, the main building, and two tunnels leading from the paddock to the Super Gold stand.

The development began immediately after the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix, and is part of a larger renovation project costing HUF 105 billion (EUR 2.6 billion). The first phase was completed before this year’s Grand Prix, focusing on the main entrance and adjacent buildings.

Today, Hungaroring is the second circuit, along with Monza (Italy), to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix without interruption since 1986.

This will not change next year, therefore current investments must be completed by then. The facility should be fully completed by 2026.

The government has provided guarantees to cover the renovation costs, ensuring the project proceeds as planned.
