In July tourism saw unprecedented success, with nearly 2.4 million visitors utilizing accommodation services, marking a 4.1% increase from last year.

The Ministry for National Economy (NGM) highlighted this surge as a testament to the sector’s strength, citing a 12.4% rise in accommodation revenue to HUF 134.5B (EUR 342.3M). The ministry emphasized that strong domestic and international tourism is crucial for Hungary’s economy and has bolstered its commitment to sector growth with a HUF 15B (EUR 38.1M) investment in tourism development programs.

The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported a 2% increase in guest nights, reaching 6.6 million. Domestic tourists accounted for 1.3 million visitors and 3.9 million guest nights, while international visitors totaled 1 million, with a notable 5.4% rise in their guest nights. The KSH also noted that rural areas saw 77.2% of accommodation traffic, with the Balaton region and Budapest as key destinations.

The combination of robust domestic travel and growing international interest underscores Hungary’s rising appeal.
