Tickets Go on Sale for World Athletics Championships in Budapest

MTI-Hungary Today 2022.12.13.

Tickets are on sale for next year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Government spokeswoman Alexandra Szentkirályi, a member of the organizing committee’s managing board, said at a press conference on Monday that Hungary has never hosted a sporting event as big as the athletics world championships. She added that the attractiveness of the world championships was demonstrated by the fact that the advance ticket sales had attracted five times more interest than the international federation had estimated.

State Secretary for Sport Ádám Schmidt, the government commissioner for the world championships, pointed out that there are 250 days to go until the world championships, which are expected to be the most important sporting event not only in Hungary but also in the world in 2023. We will be hosting 2,000 athletes and 3,000 journalists, said the State Secretary, who at the end of the press conference gave the signal for the start of ticket sales by firing a starting pistol.

A total of 400,000 tickets are available for the 14 programs of the nine-day event. There will also be six street races in the most beautiful parts of Budapest, free of charge, with the marathon starting and finishing at Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere).

The first Central European outdoor world athletics championships will take place between August 19-27, 2023 at the new National Athletics Center.
