On Saturday, June 28, one of Budapest’s most unique summer leisure sports events, the 31st KIPRUN Running Night, will set off from Heroes’ Square with a full house.
The organizer, Budapest Sportiroda (BSI), announced on Tuesday that registration is now closed as all distances are fully booked. The event starts at 9 p.m. at Heroes’ Square. A special feature of the KIPRUN Running Night is that all distances start at sunset and are guaranteed to be run in the dark. This allows runners to experience the thrill of running through illuminated Budapest while surrounded by the evening lights of the city center, the organizer noted. The route starts at Heroes’ Square, continues along Andrássy Avenue, and passes through the atmospheric Városliget (City Park).
Based on pre-registrations, over 4,700 people are expected to participate in this year’s event.
“On this evening, sport, the historical backdrop provided by the buildings and the pulsating city come together in a unique way, offering an unforgettable experience for all participants,” said Árpád Kocsis, managing director of BSI.
Runners can compete individually or in teams, and everyone who finishes will receive a unique finisher medal. Participants can choose from several distances at the event, therefore everyone can find the ideal challenge for themselves. In addition to the half marathon, which can be completed individually or in pairs, those who want a shorter but more exciting distance can test themselves in the quarter marathon. For those who want a real team experience, there is the half marathon trio category, where three people share the half marathon distance.
