The proportion of jobs for students has increased in relation to the total number of ads in the Profession.hu database. Based on the first five months of 2023, the most popular jobs among students are skilled labor, administration, assistant and clerical work, as well as manual, unskilled labor, Világgazdaság reports.

Last year, student job postings accounted for 7.2 percent of all job openings in the first five months of the year; by May of this year, that figure had risen to nearly 9 percent.

Companies are mostly looking for students for apprenticeships, with 18.9 percent of ads for student jobs in this category,

the second most common area being administration, assistant and clerical work with 12.5 percent, and the third most common category being manual, unskilled, and semi-skilled labor with 9.3 percent.

The number of applications varies, with May seeing a spike in activity from students, which can be explained by the seasonal increase in summer job opportunities. Year-on-year, there is an increase in the proportion of applications, with 1.87 percent of applications for student work in the January to May period last year, rising to 2.4 percent this year.
