For the eleventh time, the Night of Zoos will be held on August 26th at ten different zoos, wildlife parks, and animal exhibitions across the country, organizers told MTI.
The initiative was launched as a nationwide program in 2012, although some zoos have already held occasional evening programs.
In recent years, the Night of the Zoos has become a tradition, with a wide range of special programs attracting zoo and animal lovers every year who are curious about the hidden secrets of animal life and the world of zoos.
This year, there will be programs in ten of the institutions that are members of the Association of Hungarian Zoos and Aquariums: Budakeszi Wildlife Park, Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, Kecskemét Wildlife Park, Miskolc Zoo and Culture Park, Nagyerdei Culture Park (Debrecen), Pécs Zoo, Szeged Wildlife Park, Veresegyháza Bear Sanctuary, Veszprém Zoo, and János Xantus Zoo (Győr).
The exact opening times and detailed program offerings will be published by each zoo on their websites and social media platforms.
The Budapest Zoo is also preparing for the Night of the Zoos. Programs include a seal show, elephant trainings, shark dives, Persian leopard feeding, and snake stroking. In addition to the animal programs, the zoo in the capital will also have other attractions, including stilt walkers and a light circus.
