Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President of governing party Fidesz, embarked on a series of visits to various locations to gain insights into the capital’s situation, challenges, and ongoing developments, as part of the municipal elections campaign.
According to a statement sent to the press by Bertalan Havasi, the PM’s Press Chief, during his visit to the Fidesz office on Cukor Street (5th District, downtown Budapest), discussions revolved around the prospective collaboration between the government and the party’s group in the capital’s city council, given its future status as the largest faction.
The discussions highlighted the urgent need for change in Budapest due to its current unsustainable state.
Later, at Ibolya Café, Mr. Orbán engaged in discussions with Péter Szentgyörgyvölgyi, Mayor of the 5th District, concerning the collaborative efforts between the capital and the government, as well as forthcoming tasks and potential developments.
The statement also addressed the dilapidated state of numerous buildings in the 12th District, which, despite being under protection, remain in poor condition. While some renovation projects have been initiated, many more lie ahead. One such project prompted the Prime Minister’s visit to the site to review plans and listen to the ideas proposed by the district’s mayoral candidate, Krisztina Fonti.
The Prime Minister assured Ms. Fonti that the government will support these projects along with her other development initiatives. Mr. Orbán emphasized the commitment to fostering progress in Budapest.
