The Orient Express will depart from Nyugati railway station at 5:30 p.m. on the first Sunday in June, and arrive in Békéscsaba just over two hours later, Magyar Nemzet reported.

The luxury train has a long history: in the 19th century, it connected Western Europe with Eastern Europe.

Passengers could travel between Paris and Istanbul in luxury. Today, in addition to the original route, it also runs between London and Venice.

The train departs for Romania at 8:01 p.m. However, the stop in Békéscsaba (southeastern Hungary) is not guaranteed, as the times indicated in the timetable are subject to change.

Tickets start at EUR 3,450 per person for a Historic Twin Cabin and can exceed EUR 9,800 for the ultra-luxurious Grand Suites. The train runs between March and November, offering its signature London–Paris–Venice route, as well as extended journeys through different cities. In 2025, the company added a scenic itinerary from Paris to Tuscany, ending at the Castello di Casole, found in the Italian countryside. All journeys include gourmet dining, a dedicated steward, and interiors restored to the elegance of the 1920s.

Fact

The original Orient Express route, inaugurated in 1883, took over 80 hours to travel from Paris to Constantinople (now Istanbul)—a journey that spanned over 2,700 kilometers and required passengers to cross borders of six different empires and kingdoms. The train’s opulent service included crystal glassware, silk sheets, and a menu curated by Parisian chefs—earning the nickname “a rolling palace.”
