One of the world’s largest battery manufacturers, China’s Sunwoda, is to build its first European plant in Nyíregyháza (a city in northeastern Hungary) with an investment worth around 580 billion forints (EUR 1.51 B), creating thousands of new jobs – reports Járműipar.
Sunwoda, one of the world’s top ten battery manufacturers, is setting up its first European plant in Hungary in response to growing demand from the continent’s automotive industry. The company has announced an investment of HUF 93 billion (EUR 242.5 M) in the first phase, but the project will be worth HUF 580 billion (EUR 1.51 B) in the long term, including the other construction phases, creating thousands of jobs in Nyíregyháza.
Sunwoda announced that it will build its most modern battery factory ever in Nyíregyháza, in the Southern Industrial Park. Construction will start next year and production is scheduled to start at the end of 2025.
The plant will supply lithium-ion energy sources from Nyíregyháza to the automotive industry on the continent.
