Economic neutrality will bring economic success to Hungary, the Prime Minister told journalists in Kötcse on Saturday.
Speaking at the venue of the annual meeting organized by the Foundation for a Civic Hungary in Kötcse, Viktor Orbán said that a new world economy had emerged in recent times, and that it was necessary to adapt to it and adopt a new economic policy.
Mr. Orbán is convinced that economic neutrality will bring economic success to Hungary: the “heart and soul” of this economic policy is economic neutrality,
he noted.
This year, Hungarian economic growth is in the top third in Europe, the Prime Minister said in response to a question. He added that he is not satisfied with this, but would be if Hungarian growth was the first in Europe. The government aims to achieve growth of between 3-5%, and this is possible next year, he underlined. “Our current situation shows” that we have realized in time that a good relationship with all the important players in the world economy, rather than forming blocs, could provide a solution for the Hungarian economy, the head of government noted.
Asked about EU funds, the Hungarian head of government said that “we have 12 billion in our account.”
We are talking about the fact that there is no EU money,” but EUR 12 billion is waiting to be injected into the Hungarian economy,
he emphasized.
“I am waiting for Hungarian entrepreneurs to implement the tenders that have been put out, for the budget to pay for them, and for us to receive them as post-financing. Thus, the situation today is not that there is no money, but that the money is there, but we just cannot get it in fast enough,” he added.
On the leaked peace plan, Mr. Orbán said that if the EU had accepted any of the elements of the proposal at the time, there would be much less trouble today.
By the way, the peace mission is not over. I have been working on it all summer, we are doing international work, and there will be some spectacular initiatives that will be launched as early as September.”
The prime minister sees the essence of foreign policy as building friendships and alliances. The fact that two countries are not on good terms with each other does not preclude Hungary from being on good terms with both, he pointed out. It is in Hungary’s interest that the world economy should not break up into blocs, he added. “Hungary can be on good terms with the Americans, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Arabs and the European Union at the same time. We are a sovereign country,” Viktor Orbán stressed.
