Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has announced that a new milestone has been achieved in the manufacturing process of the Hungarian Air Force’s first of two military transport aircraft. The plane has gone through its first successful power-up.

“The 1st KC390 Millennium aircraft produced for the Hungarian Air Force was powered on for the first time, proving that the electrical system primary distribution is already completed and operational. Next steps: systems installations and flight tests”, announced the Brazilian manufacturer.
The KC390 will replace the already retired Soviet-era Antonov 29 aircraft, and will complement the current lease agreement for three Boeing C-17 aircraft that are shared with other NATO customers. The new Brazilian-manufactured aircraft will bring another capability into the Hungarian Air Force, as the KC390 is capable of air-to-air refueling.
In 2020 the Ministry of Defense has ordered two of the aircraft, they are expected to land in Hungary’s Pápa military base in 2024.
