Tender to Support Companies Purchasing Electric Vehicles Launched

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.02.05.

As of today, companies can apply for subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, the Ministry of Energy has announced. Domestic companies can apply for non-refundable state subsidies for the purchase of pure electric cars, vans or minibuses from the HUF 30 billion (EUR 77.7 million / 1 EUR=386 HUF) budget of the tender.

The program, encouraging the use of green energy, can provide between HUF 2.8 million and HUF 4 million for the purchase of a vehicle, depending on the battery capacity, and up to HUF 64 million for a single company. Applications for support can be submitted from 5 p.m. on February 5, 2024, but the online platform is already open, with almost 1,000 people having started filling in the first 24 hours.

Under the call for applications, Hungarian businesses established until the end of 2021 are eligible, with the exception of car dealers and car rental companies. An additional condition is that the net turnover of the applicant, or in the case of sole proprietors and other self-employed persons, the income of the applicant, as shown in its latest annual accounts, must exceed the eligible costs of the project.

Enterprises with less than 10 employees may purchase up to one vehicle, between 10 and 49 employees up to five, between 50 and 249 employees up to 10 and larger enterprises up to 16 vehicles. Around two thirds of the total budget can be used for purchases by rural firms, and the regionally earmarked aid envelopes can be reallocated depending on the number of applications.

The online application form has been available at www.palyazat.gov.hu since February 1, 2024.

In the first 24 hours, almost 1,000 people started filling in the necessary data, documents and declarations.

Applications are accepted from February 5, 2024 at 5 p.m.

There are already 86,000 green vehicles on the national roads, more than half of them pure electric cars. The grant will significantly reduce the price advantage of conventional cars and make the purchase of e-vehicles more attractive and affordable. The government is funding the program from the REPowerEU chapter approved at the end of last year. The Ministry of Energy is preparing a separate call for proposals to support the expansion of the domestic electric charging network from the same budget.
