The Hungarian telecommunications company 4iG is optimistic about the future after a successful 2024. At a press conference in Budapest on Monday, CEO Péter Fekete emphasized the company’s continued growth and strategic direction, reports Világgazdaság.
The focus is on the transformation of 4iG into a strategic investment holding company with four central business areas:
Within the commercial telecommunications business, the commercial activities will be transferred to One Zrt., while the network infrastructure will be taken over by Digi. Synergy effects through cross-selling are already evident in the private and business customer segment.
The integration is to be completed shortly with the merger of One, Digi, Invitech, and Antenna Hungária into one company.
4iG is also continuing to expand internationally. Operations in Albania have stabilized, and the subsidiary in Montenegro has been expanded into a premium mobile network operator. Further expansions in Balkan countries are expected in order to transport the data from the planned submarine cable connecting Egypt with Austria though Albania.
The space and defense sector is gaining momentum. 4iG has entered into cooperation agreements with American, German, and Polish companies,
and is focusing on four areas: satellite program, development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), UAV protection, and digital defense.
4iG itself is also an IT services provider, serving clients such as Wizz Air. Cooperation with Rheinmetall is to be intensified in the future, as IT service provider R4, founded jointly with the German company, is planning to expand its engineering team. Through its investment in R4, 4iG also benefits from Rheinmetall’s extensive orders in the defense sector.
Talks with SpaceX may continue in several areas, since Elon Musk’s company is highly interested in finding partners in the region.
With a turnover of over 700 billion forints (1.75 billion euros) and an EBITDA of 238 billion forints (595 million euros) in 2024, 4iG is among the top 25 largest Hungarian companies and one of the top 10 companies with majority Hungarian ownership.
