The Task Force against Drought has been established, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced in a video posted on Facebook on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister revealed that based on all scientific and professional analyses, Hungary is facing another year of drought in 2025, “despite the fact that it is currently raining,” referring to the rainy weather of the past few days.
This is not a new problem in Hungary, we have to cope with floods, inland water, and drought. This year will be a year of drought, hence we have to cope with that,”
he stressed.
The politician said that on Tuesday, he and the members of the operational staff had taken stock of the available means and options for averting the consequences of the drought this year and mitigating the damage. “I call on all farmers to cooperate with the task force, because it is in our common interest to have a successful year in the fields,” Mr. Orbán concluded his video message.
As reported by Hungary Today, last year not only saw a series of record-breaking hot days in the summer, but also a lack of rainfall. These two factors had a particularly negative impact on agriculture, putting the livelihoods of many farmers at risk.
