Katalin Novák highlighted that thanks to the scholarship program, 12,000 students from all over the world are currently studying in Hungary. With this agreement, Hungary will be able to offer scholarships to Tanzanian students for the next three years. Samia Suluhu Hassan said that the agreement would also allow Hungarian students to receive scholarships from Tanzanian universities.
According to Novák, the meeting with the President of Tanzania covered, among other issues, the Russian-Ukrainian war, migration, and demographic issues, and the parties agreed to strengthen economic relations. She stressed that

She also said that they had the opportunity to discuss history with the Tanzanian President. “Both of us are ready and open to learn from each other’s example,” emphasized Novák.

The Hungarian President pointed out that
she would like to organize a business forum in Hungary, linked to the visit of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, that would bring together stakeholders from the business sectors of the two countries.
In addition to the meeting with the Tanzanian President, Novák awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to Honorary Consul Obedie Solomon Kimaro on Tuesday. In her speech at the ceremony, President Novák stressed that Obedie Solomon Kimaro knows Hungarians well, and understands their mentality and way of thinking.
Ambassador Zsolt Mészáros stressed that Obedie Solomon Kimaro came to Hungary in 1977, as a promising young student on a scholarship to study civil engineering. After graduating, he returned to his home country and went on to an outstanding business career. Kimaro has become a living embodiment of the bridge between Hungary and Tanzania, the ambassador pointed out, adding that the Honorary Consul is a good example of the Hungarian scholarship program.
