Foreign Minister Uses Spiegel to Send Message to ‘Hungarophobic’ Dutch PM Rutte

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade recommended reading the current edition of Spiegel to the Dutch prime minister, which front page reads: “Cheese, coke, and killers. How Holland became a mafia paradise through lax drug policies.”

In a Facebook post, Péter Szijjártó yet again took aim at the Dutch prime minister, who, according to Szijjártó, “is suffering from severe Hungarophobia.” Szijjártó shared the headline from this week’s German Spiegel as a dig.

“After this, even Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte can understand the truth of the Hungarian phrase that everyone should first sweep in front of their own door,” Szijjártó concluded, adding another episode to the saga of verbal skirmishes between the Orbán and Rutte governments.
