The new factory hall of the Swiss-owned EuropTec was built in Zalaegerszeg (western Hungary) with Hungarian state support as part of a EUR 12 million investment, and was inaugurated on Thursday, Világgazdaság reports.
At the inauguration ceremony, Richárd Szabados, State Secretary responsible for small and medium-sized enterprises and technology, said: “All investments can help to achieve the economic growth estimated at around three percent this year.” In Zalaegerszeg, the new 2,500 square meter factory hall was built as part of a EUR 12 million development, for which the Hungarian state, with the help of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), provided a HUF 1 billion grant (EUR 2.5 million).
The development will create 80-100 new jobs for the company,
the State Secretary said.
Alexander Georg Fischer, managing director of EuropTec, recalled that
for decades they have been producing high-quality plastic components here for medical and industrial partners in Zalaegerszeg and supplying them to many countries around the world.
Their presence here continues to be important, as they are planning further investments in the town.
Gábor Belső, managing director of the Hungarian subsidiary, EuropTec Kft., which currently employs 160 people, recalled that the Zalaegerszeg-based company was established in 1991. The last time a factory building was built was in 2017, and this is the fourth building in the series of developments, he added.
László Vigh, Member of Parliament representing the region, said that ten years ago the aim was to reduce unemployment, today the aim is to have enough workers, adding that technology should help and not deprive workers.
Zoltán Balaicz, Mayor of Zalaegerszeg, stressed at the event that in the last ten years Zalaegerszeg has seen a number of new investments to strengthen the city’s economy, and 5,000 new jobs have been created. EuropTec is one of the 25 largest local taxpayers and is not only constantly developing, but is also present in the educational, cultural, health, and sports life of the city with its support, he noted.
