Addressing the energy crisis is one of the most important challenges, said the Minister for Technology and Industry. László Palkovics stressed the importance of energy sovereignty.
The impact of rising energy prices must be kept under control and utility cost reduction must be protected, Minister of Technology and Industry László Palkovics said on Monday at a ceremony marking the national holiday.
He stressed the need to meet the growing demand for energy and to contribute to the development of the economy and industry by modernizing Hungary’s energy system. He added that greening and climate neutrality objectives must continue to be kept in mind.
Palkovics stressed that the government will continue to ensure that Hungarian families benefit from utility cost reduction up to the average consumption.
The Minister said it was a regrettable fact that the past years in Hungary had been about fighting the pandemic and the subsequent crisis, and that now the country is facing an even more serious situation due to the protracted war.
He remarked that from day one it was clear that the consequences of the war would be very serious, and that today the whole of Europe is suffering from the effects of war inflation, high levels of insecurity, and the growing energy crisis.
The government’s aim is to protect Hungary, Hungarian families, and businesses as much as possible from the effects of the global recession, he said. He stressed the need to strengthen Hungary’s energy sovereignty.
