The Hungarian government is offering 20,000 euros in emergency aid through the Hungary Helps Program to help the victims of the flood-hit Spanish province of Valencia, and is also funding the deployment of a Hungarian volunteer search and rescue team, the Hungarian State Secretary State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians wrote in a Facebook post.
Tristan Azbej said he was shocked to learn about the consequences of the disaster in the south-east of Spain, especially in and around Valencia. He noted that the death toll had risen to over 200 people, that a massive search was under way for missing people and that it was difficult to estimate the material damage.
He added that following the decision of Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian government is expressing its solidarity with the victims through the Hungary Helps Program.
In response to the request for assistance forwarded by the Spanish Vox party, we are offering a total of 20,000 euros in emergency aid to the province of Valencia, as well as funding for the deployment of a Hungarian volunteer search and rescue team, “
Tristan Azbej wrote in his post.
He added: “We hope that with this support we can contribute to saving lives and mitigating the damage. Our Spanish friends can count on us. Hungary will help!”
