The Hungarian Defense Forces are gearing up for St. Stephen’s Day with exciting events and displays. The celebrations will include an air parade over the Parliament and a military equipment showcase in City Park.

Airplanes and helicopters will fly over Budapest at low altitudes on August 16 and 20, creating noticeable noise effects. The air parade’s dress rehearsal will take place on August 16 from 10 to 11 a.m., with the main event scheduled for August 20 between 9 and 10 a.m.

A flyover by three Gripen fighter jets from the Kecskemét Air Brigade will take place at 8:30 a.m. on August 20, preceding the parade.

From August 18, visitors to the City Park can view modern military equipment, including Lynx combat vehicles, Leopard 2A7HU tanks, PzH2000 self-propelled guns, and Gidrán combat vehicles. Increased military vehicle traffic is expected on the night of August 17 and the morning of August 18 along various routes affecting major motorways and Budapest entry sections.

The military equipment will return along the same routes post-celebrations. The Defense Forces aim to minimize disturbances and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this period.
