Visitors are invited to a special program in Hollókő (northern Hungary) during the summer, reports Turizmus.com. There will be wine tasting at sunset, a street party in the village and a fairytale day with knights, dragons and princesses in Hollókő Castle.

Hollókő, known for its more than 100-year-old houses, and the recently completely renovated Hollókő Castle offer a special summer program.

The castle will host several sunset wine tastings with cheese and scones from the Old Village, and a fairytale day will bring unique characters to life.

Visitors can meet again the old king, the princess and, of course, the giant fire-breathing dragon. Children who enter the castle gates will be able to test their courage, dexterity and ingenuity in special challenges. Within the castle walls, real knights will teach the skills of weaponry and the use of battle tools.

In addition to all this, a specially designed escape room has opened in the tower of the castle.

The detailed program:

July 13: wine tasting, sunset, Hollókő Castle
July 20: fairytale day, Hollókő Castle
August 10: wine tasting, sunset, Hollókő Castle
August 20: St Stephen’s Day, Hollókő Castle
August 24: summer closing street party in the village

Fact

Hollókő was constructed in the 13th century and developed in the 18th and 19th centuries. Now it is a well-preserved ethnographic village, with traditional wooden architecture and layout of buildings, farms, and orchards. Due to its exceptional preservation and testimony to rural life before the arrival of modern farming practices, the village was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. It is the only village in Hungary that is on the UNESCO list. Even today, Hollókő has not become an open-air museum, as its residents still use most of the buildings for their original purposes.
