Despite a double-digit increase in operating costs, several domestic spas will continue to offer their services at 2024 prices from January 1, 2025. In addition, according to Turizmus.com, the facilities that needed to raise prices are also working hard to develop discounts and improve their range of experiences.

The tourism news portal asked the managers of five domestic spas about this year’s prospects. Two of them reported no increase at all in the price of spa tickets this year, while the others have essentially implemented inflation-linked price increases.

Bükfürdő

Bükfürdő Thermal and Spa did not increase the price of spa services on January 1. The facility has been offering its spa services at the same price since April 2023, despite the record inflation in Hungary. The price of a full-price ticket is:

  • HUF 6,900 (EUR 16.87) in high season,
  • HUF 6,300 (EUR 15.40) in low season.

New constructions for daily and season tickets were developed last year, which they would like to expand further in 2025, said Tibor Gajda, general manager. The “Pensioners’ Wednesday” discount day, which was successfully introduced in 2024, has been extended from 2025: on weekdays, elderly guests can enjoy a rich lunch menu for only HUF 1,900 (EUR 4.64).

He noted that

2025 will be the Year of Families in Bükfürdő, where the spa will offer an additional discount on the discounted family ticket for repeat visits within three weeks.

Budapest

Unlike in rural towns, in most of the capital’s spa resorts, they have been forced to raise the prices. One of the biggest challenges for Budapest Gyógyfürdői és Hévízi Zrt. has been managing the six-fold increase in water and sewerage charges. Running a spa is basically a costly business, while maintaining buildings and monuments that are more than a century old requires an order of magnitude more resources, said Ildikó Szűts, the company’s CEO.

Taking all this into account, the price of spa tickets rose by 5-12 percent at the beginning of 2024 in their facilities, with a 10-12 percent increase for historic spas and a 5-6 percent increase for spas visited by domestic visitors.

At the beginning of this year, prices were increased by an average of 5 percent, essentially in line with inflation.

The entrance fee to the Széchenyi Spa is currently HUF 11,000 (EUR 26.90) on weekdays, HUF 12,500 (EUR 30.57) on Fridays and weekends and HUF 13,000 (EUR 31.79) in high season, which includes the use of the pools and saunas. In the Paskál Spa, the adult ticket is HUF 4,200 (EUR 10.27) on weekdays and HUF 5,100 (EUR 12.47) on weekends and public holidays.

Sárvár

Although operating costs have increased by 12 percent compared to 2003, the Sárvár Spa is offering the same prices as last year. A daily adult ticket costs HUF 6,300 (EUR 15.40) outside the peak season and HUF 7,600 (EUR 18.58) during the peak season. The ticket gives guests a full day of bathing and includes the use of all pools and slides (23 pools and 23 slides when the beach is open).

Zoltán Kántás, the managing director of the company that runs the spa, told Turizmus.com that they are currently offering New Year’s offers in their fitness department. They also offer discounted tickets for pensioners on Tuesdays and cooperate with local accommodation providers.

In Sárvár there were several novelties last year.

The children’s pool has been renovated on more than 320 square meters and a “jungle world” has been created with new features (e.g. waterfall cave, spectacular steam shower, jungle sound effects).

An extension of the outdoor slide park is planned for this year, as well as the renewal of the saunas.

Hajdúszoboszló

In 2024 and 2025, Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló Zrt. has only implemented price increases in line with inflation. The price increase was justified by several factors, including the increase of the minimum wage and the increase of water tariffs.

The price of a ticket for adults is currently HUF 5,000 (EUR 12.22). In Hajdúszoboszló, guests are offered a variety of discount packages which can be combined with the use of the spa facilities.

In their spa, they have introduced shock wave therapy as a new treatment for the effective treatment of arthritis and pain caused by musculoskeletal disorders.

Gyula

The increase in operating costs has justified a price increase at the Gyula Castle Baths, where a new development worth more than HUF 1 billion has begun. From January 1, 2024, the price of tickets was increased by 10%, then by 4.6% from June 15. A ticket for adults currently costs HUF 4,700 (thermal baths, beach baths and swimming pool) in Gyula.

We are in partnership with all hotels and several apartments in Gyula, so most of the hotels offer volume discounts and can accommodate visitors with tickets included in the price of accommodation,”

said Miklós Kun, Managing Director.
