There will be temporary traffic restrictions in the 5th, 7th, 8th, and 14th districts of Budapest between March 21 and 25 due to a football match, the Budapest Police Headquarters announced. The Hungarian national football team, which is preparing for the European Championship, will play a preparation match against Türkiye on Friday evening at Puskás Arena, where all tickets are sold out, reports Magyar Nemzet.
It is forbidden to park on the park side of Erzsébet Square in District 5 between Miatyánk Street and Bécsi Street on Thursday March 21, from noon to 3:30 p.m. through March 25, and on both sides of Verseny Street in District 7 and 8 between Dózsa György Road and Thököly Road from 8 p.m. on March 21 to midnight on March 22.
Parking will be prohibited on March 22 from 6 a.m. to midnight in District 7, 8, and 14 between Kerepesi Road and Thököly Road; on both sides of Dózsa György Road; on the gravel parking area at the intersection of Dózsa György Road, Kerepesi Road, and Ifjúság Road; on both sides of Ifjúság Road; and on the area bordered by Kerepesi Road, Ifjúság Road, the service road leading to the underground car park of the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena, and the Puskás Ferenc Stadion metro station.
Parking will be prohibited on March 22 from 8 a.m. to midnight in District 8, in the area of Kerepesi Road
on both sides of Szabó József Street between Istvánmezei Road and Thököly Road, on both sides of Cházár András Street between Thököly Road and Istvánmezei Road, on both sides of Istvánmezei Road between Szabó József Street and Thököly Road, on both sides of Jobbágy Street between Verseny Street and Dózsa György Road, on both sides of Jobbágy Street between Verseny Street and Dózsa György Road.
Erzsébet Square in District 5 between Károly Boulevard and Bécsi Street, Erzsébet Square between József Attila Street and Bécsi Street, and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street between József Attila Street and Károly Boulevard will all be temporarily closed in sections from noon on March 21 until 3:30 p.m. on March 25, police warn.
The Hungarian national team has played 15 times against Türkiye, winning nine matches and drawing two.
The first game was at the 1952 Olympics, while the last time the two sides faced each other in November 2020 in the UEFA Nations League, which ended in a Hungarian victory.
