The Balaton Tourism Association has released its much-anticipated annual ranking of the most popular ice cream parlors around Lake Balaton, based on online customer reviews. The list highlights the top 10 spots that have earned the highest praise from visitors across digital platforms, writes turizmus.com.
Topping the list is the quirky and beloved Kő fagyi? in Mindszentkálla (near Lake Balaton), closely followed by Bagaméri in Balatonfüred (northern shore). The latter recently took home the prestigious “Ice Cream Shop of the Year” award from the Hungarian Confectioners’ Guild.
Also making the top ranks is Promenád Kávéház in Balatongyörök (northern shore), which this year began selling the Vatican’s official ice cream at the lakeside.
Another standout is Bringatanya Fagyizó in Gyenesdiás (northern shore), where pastry chef Renáta Somogyi brought home a bronze medal from the 2023 Gelato European Championship. Meanwhile, Amaretto in Balatonalmádi (northern shore) scored high not only for its flavors, but also for offering a range of products catering to special dietary needs.
One of the most notable newcomers is Füge Fagyiudvar és Kávézó (ice cream parlor and café) in Veszprém (near Lake Balaton). With a 4.8-star average from 457 reviews, it recently won the “Ice Cream of Balaton” title, cementing its place among the elite.
According to the Balaton Tourism Association, online reviews do more than just reflect customer satisfaction—they have a measurable impact on a business’s revenue.

“Reviews not only build consumer trust, but they also directly influence digital visibility,” said Tamás Fekete, the association’s president. “Positive feedback boosts search engine rankings, as Google’s algorithms prioritize fresh and reliable reviews.”
The association is now encouraging holidaymakers not only to relax and indulge but also to share their experiences—whether about ice cream parlors, hotels, or even bike rentals. A few kind words online, they say, can go a long way in supporting local businesses offering exceptional service around the Balaton.
