Sándor Liu Shaolin: “If I win a Medal, 50% is for China, 50% for Hungary”

Hungary Today 2022.02.01.

Olympic, world, and European short track speed skating champion, Sándor Liu Shaolin, said it would be special to win the Beijing Games by flying both the Hungarian and Chinese flags.

Liu’s mother is Hungarian and his father is Chinese, but as Reuters reported “his heart is in both places.”

My mum stitched two flags together – the Hungarian flag and the Chinese flag. That is why it is going to be so special if I win and I can wave it in Beijing.”

Liu won the men’s 5,000-meter relay with his brother Shaoang at the Pyeongchang Olympics.

“Hopefully, even if there are Chinese skaters, they will cheer for us the same way they’d be cheering for Chinese skaters. We love our Chinese fans,” Shaoang said.
