Russian Embassy Says Insults against Russians in Hungary on the Rise

The Russian embassy says insults against Russians in Hungary are on the rise. Therefore, they will launch a hotline where the alleged insults can be reported.

According to the most common estimates, there are about 20,000 Russians or native speakers of Russian living in Hungary. The Russian Embassy is now launching a hotline in order to help anyone in need.

In connection with the increasing cases of persecution, insults, and discrimination against Russian-speaking citizens, the Russian Embassy in Hungary is launching a hotline,”

the Embassy posted on its website.

Russians can write to the email address help@rusembhungary.ru or fill out a form, as well as reach out via Telegram Messenger.

444 notes that currently, there are 13 nationalities recognized by the state in Hungary: Bulgarian, Croatian, Croatian, German, Greek, Armenian, Polish, Roma, Romanian, Ruthenian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovene, Ukrainian, and Polish. In 2006 and 2018, the native Russian community tried to become a state-recognized minority but was rejected by Parliament because they have not been here for 100 years.
