Nationalist rally at Tusványos

Last Saturday, Mihai Tîrnoveanu’s nationalist action at Baile Tusnad (Tusnádfürdő) ended in failure, where the leader of the Calea Neamului association and about twenty of his supporters tried to get into where Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was giving his speech. However, the Romanian nationalists were not allowed to enter the Tusványos event area.

Tîrnoveanu had previously announced on social media that he would “come face to face with Viktor Orbán” during his speech in Tusnádfürdő, adding that “Viktor Orbán had dinner with the Romanian prime minister, but on Saturday he will have breakfast with us.”

However, there was no confrontation or incident at the scene, as the authorities excluded the protesters from the event.

The group members waved flags and demonstrated their presence, but Mihai Tîrnoveanu promised the authorities that they would not cause a scandal during Viktor Orbán’s speech. In the end, they were only able to gather outside of the festival area

Tîrnoveanu also sharply criticized Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for receiving Orbán in Bucharest ahead of the event.

Admission to Tusványos was again subject to registration this year, including for journalists. Participants were admitted on the basis of a QR code, and bags and packages were searched during security checks.
