A Romanian criminal gang committing burglaries across Europe has been arrested with the help of Hungarian police.
The four Romanian men, who were exposed by the police of Zala County in Western Hungary with international cooperation, had been looting high-value electronic goods by breaking the walls of department stores in several European countries.
In October 2021, a burglary was reported from an electronics store in Zalaegerszeg, during which the perpetrators broke into the back wall of the building. They took mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, and headphones worth around 38 million forints (95,800 euros) from the store and its warehouse.
The police of Zala County contacted the authorities of several European countries and identified four Romanian citizens who had committed similar burglaries in France, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
On December 6 last year, the four suspects were arrested in Romania during a raid at several locations, with the participation of Zala county police officers and local police.
