The exhibition’s opening hours have been extended, hence visitors can see works by the French Impressionist on December 26 and New Year’s Day as well, writes Magyar Nemzet.
Almost 200,000 people have already visited the exhibition Renoir – The Painter and his Models, which opened at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest at the end of September. The exhibition will be open on Christmas Day, between the two holidays, and on the first day of the New Year, from 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. The large-scale display, running until the beginning of January, will feature almost 70 works by the French master.
The exhibition includes major works by the French Impressionist, such as The Swing, Dance in the Country, and The Clown.

The first exhibition dedicated to the painter in Hungary – including nearly thirty works by Renoir preserved in the Fine Arts – presents the artist’s development in chronological and thematic order.
For the first time, all three versions of Renoir’s Naked Woman Couchée (Gabrielle), painted between 1903 and 1907, have been exhibited together in this popular exhibition,
the first of which was acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts in 2019, in a purchase of historical importance for the collection.
The exhibition, focusing on Renoir’s portraits of people, was organized in collaboration with the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, but the Museum of Fine Arts has also borrowed works from more than 20 public collections abroad.
