The President of the Rákóczi Association, Csongor Csáky, emphasized the global significance of Hungarian identity at the opening of the 3rd All-Hungarian High School Camp in Sátoraljaújhely (northern Hungary).
Mr. Csáky highlighted the importance of attending Hungarian schools and participating in community activities, particularly for those living in the diaspora, to strengthen the nation. He stated that the camp, which brings together around 700 young people, is part of a broader program involving 15,000 Hungarians from 32 countries across 35 events.
The Association’s President described the camp as “an investment in the future of the Hungarian nation,”
noting the dual importance of both meeting young people from different countries and what they “take away with them.” He emphasized the pride young Hungarians should feel in their identity, culture, and nation, and encouraged them to preserve and pass on these values.
The camp, running until August 16, has attracted participants from regions including the Carpathian Basin, Australia, the United States, Canada, and various European countries. The program includes performances, sports activities, theater, and excursions. Additionally, the Rákóczi Association will organize two more camps in August: a drama camp in Székesfehérvár (central Hungary) and a sailing camp in Orfű (southern Hungary) for children from Transylvania and Vojvodina (Serbia).
Csongor Csáky’s remarks underscore the importance of cultural preservation and the global connection among Hungarians, reinforcing the idea that wherever young Hungarians live, they should be “proud of the Hungarian nation, identity, and culture.”
