Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) first published its ranking of the best universities in Europe in autumn 2023, and now the second edition is published under the title QS Europe 2025. 684 out of almost 3,500 universities in more than 40 European countries, including 15 in Hungary, have been included in the list, Világgazdaság reports.
The Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) has improved 18 places in the QS European ranking published on July 10, and has gained the 190th place, thus becoming the best university in Hungary in the regional ranking after this year’s QS World University Rankings.

QS’s European rankings are based on a similar methodology to other lists of the organization, with the difference that they give greater weight to internationalization and mobility as important European values. This is reflected in a newly introduced measure of International Student Diversity.
QS Europe uses 12 indicators, of which ELTE scored highest in Hungary in the areas of academic reputation, publication citation, job opportunities, outgoing student mobility and sustainability.
In terms of job opportunities for graduates, ELTE is ranked in the top 100 in Europe, at 68th place, ELTE said.
