New fuel prices have been announced by Hungarian wholesalers for the last working day of the week, writes Világgazdaság. The rise in fuel prices in Hungary will continue, even if only partially, according to a recent report by Holtankoljak.hu.
The fuel price monitoring blog reported that
that the price of petrol and diesel will also change on Friday.
In terms of wholesale prices, the price of petrol will increase by HUF 2 (1 EUR = 394.8 HUF) gross, while petrol stations will have to pay HUF 5 gross less for diesel. The new pricing is expected to be reflected in the prices at the pumps, so that from Friday onwards, vehicle owners will be faced with the following average prices:
According to holtankoljak.hu, the price of petrol will break this year’s record on Friday, as the average price was HUF 579.93 in January and HUF 609.42 in February.
It is important to stress that these are average prices, from which actual retail prices may differ by HUF 4-5. Near motorways, fuel is roughly HUF 50 more expensive per liter. In any case, so far this year, i.e. from January until now at wholesale level,
the price of petrol has risen by HUF 80 per liter and the price of diesel by HUF 68,
although HUF 41 of this is due to the mandatory increase in excise duty in January. Excluding this, there is an increase of HUF 39 and 27 for petrol and diesel respectively. The rise of around HUF 70 per liter means that an average 50-liter tank of petrol costs between HUF 3,500 and 4,000 more now than it did in December of last year.
The increase in fuel prices was to be expected, as oil prices rose at the end of February and the price of Brent crude oil climbed from USD 80 to over USD 83, reports Index. Experts see another reason for the price increase in the weakening of the forint against the dollar: At the end of last week, the dollar was trading at over HUF 363, compared to HUF 359 at the beginning of this week.
