Tamás Sulyok (President of Hungary), who is currently on a working visit in Japan, was received in person by Emperor Naruhito, the 126th ruler of Japan. After the meeting, the politician stated that he had met a sincere and sensitive person with an interest in Hungarian culture and music.
As the Hungarian Head of State recalled, Hungary has maintained diplomatic relations with Japan since 1869, and the purpose of the current visit is to preserve and strengthen this valuable and committed relationship, which has lasted for 156 years.
According to Tamás Sulyok, the mutual respect and friendly trust between the two nations, which has characterized relations between the two countries for decades, provides a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral cooperation in various fields of culture and economy.
The President of Hungary considers the spiritual kinship between the Hungarian and Japanese peoples to be a special relationship. He emphasized that as a nation with Eastern roots, Hungarians have always felt close to Japanese culture and people.
Sulyok confirmed that an official invitation to Hungary has been extended to the Japanese emperor, which Emperor Naruhito gladly acknowledged.
The President of Hungary will hold talks with the heads of Japanese companies operating in Hungary and representatives of investor groups, and will then meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
