Budapest police chased down and caught a kangaroo in the early hours of Sunday, according to a Facebook post by the city’s law enforcement headquarters.
Before wrapping the kangaroo in a blanket and capturing it in the Csepel area in the southern part of the capital, police had to pursue the animal for more than five kilometers. The marsupial was “taken into custody” without any injuries, then safely brought to the local Budapest Zoo.
Police were unable to immediately determine from where the kangaroo escaped or the identity of its owner.
