PM Viktor Orbán to Give a Speech at 33rd Tusványos Summer University

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.07.12.

The Hungarian Youth Council (MIT) and the Pro Minoritate Foundation  will organize the 33rd Bálványos Free Summer University and Student Camp, known as Tusványos, in Băile Tușnad (Tusnádfürdő), Romania.

The event, themed “On a Right Track,” highlights the improved situation of Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin and aims to promote national-conservative values. Krisztina Sándor, political program officer of Tusványos, stated:

If we look around a little bit in the neighborhood, in Europe, in the world, we can say in 2024 that we are on a right track now.”

This year’s panel discussions will focus on four main themes: current political developments, war and peace, the economic situation, and green issues such as climate change and energy efficiency. The political topics will highlight the June and autumn elections and the Hungarian EU Presidency, with a national policy roundtable featuring presidents of Hungarian organizations from the Carpathian Basin.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, and other Hungarian government officials are among the invited guests.

The prime minister’s speech will require registration to prevent provocateurs. Despite efforts, no Romanian politicians will participate due to the election year, but returning Romanian speakers will attend.

Ilona Popa, the main organizer in Transylvania, mentioned that the event will involve 76 partner organizations, 500 programs in 34 tents, and around 1,000 speakers. The evening concerts will feature various bands, including Blahalouisiana, the Bagossy Brothers Company, and Honeybeast.

The event will maintain its traditional themes in different tents, covering public, national, economic, youth, cultural, literary, and religious topics.

Folk music and culture will be highlighted in the Csűr, and the Krúdy Courtyard will focus on gastronomy and wine, with children’s activities available at multiple venues. Sports Terrace will host renowned Hungarian athletes and Olympians, and a fan zone for Sepsi OSK fans will be introduced. Additionally, the press situation will be discussed in round-table sessions, and the Duma dub of Radio Gaga will participate.

Réka Horváth, President of the Hungarian Youth Council, said there will be performances, entertainment programs, and concerts by emerging Transylvanian bands. Gates open on July 23, with tickets available online. More information can be found on the tusvanyos.ro website and social pages.
