Viktor Orbán voiced Hungary’s commitment to supporting Kyrgyzstan’s global integration, stating,
Hungary is committed to ensuring that Kyrgyzstan achieves the broadest possible cooperation not only with us but with the entire European Union.”
Since Hungary joined the Turkic Council in Kyrgyzstan six years ago, ties between the two nations have deepened, bolstered by shared interests. Four years ago, this bond was elevated to a strategic partnership, with Hungary actively advocating for Kyrgyz interests in European political forums.
Mr. Orbán highlighted economic cooperation, noting that trade between the two nations is set to double this year. Supported by a Hungarian-Kyrgyz investment fund, projects in hydropower and agriculture are underway.
The Prime Minister praised Kyrgyzstan’s role in global security, commending its anti-terrorism efforts, aligning with Hungary’s pro-peace stance. “Hungarians are a people that are good at peace, less so at war. We are glad that Kyrgyzstan is also on the side of peace, so we are both members of the global pro-peace majority, working and praying for peace to come as soon as possible.”
Highlighting Hungary’s unique historical and cultural ties with Turkic countries, Viktor Orbán noted that Hungary is the only Eastern nation to have migrated westward and established a state.
1,100 years is a long time, but the Hungarians have not lost their consciousness of origin. We have always had friendly and brotherly feelings toward the Turkic peoples, including the Kyrgyz,”
he said, affirming Hungary’s cultural bond with Turkic nations.
PM Orbán reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to a cooperative relationship with Kyrgyzstan. This strategic partnership spans diplomacy, trade, and shared cultural heritage, grounded in a common vision for peace and growth.
