PM Orbán Speaks Out Concerning Opposition Figure’s Link to Ukrainian Interests

Hungary Today 2025.06.06.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that a series of provocations were organized jointly by Brussels and Ukraine, and that pro-Ukrainian, and thus “pro-war forces” were deeply embedded even in the leadership of the Hungarian army, Magyar Nemzet reported

Hungary is openly opposed to Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union, which is why it has become the target of international attacks; the forces that want to “push” Ukraine into the European Union are attacking Hungary together with the Ukrainians, the Prime Minister said on Friday on Kossuth Radio’s program “Good morning, Hungary!” (Jó reggelt, Magyarország!).

It would cost Hungary 20 trillion forints (approximately 49.6 billion euros) if Brussels were to push through the Ukrainian plan. We would rather leave this money with Hungarian families,”

said Viktor Orbán. “Let us not allow decisions to be made over our heads!” he emphasized.

“We are essentially talking about a matter of national security,” continued Orbán in the interview with Kossuth Radio while referencing the scandal involving Romulus Ruszin-Szendi, who ended his speeches at NATO meetings with the cry “Slava Ukraini!” (“Glory to Ukraine!”) when he was still chief of staff of the Hungarian armed forces.

The Prime Minister said that Ukraine’s EU membership is the flashpoint of the issue. “There are two types of countries: those that oppose it, and those that support it,” Orbán said. According to him, there are also two types of countries among the opponents. There are those who are cunning, going with the flow, thinking that they will be able to block Ukraine’s accession during the negotiation process.

Our country opposes Ukraine’s EU membership, and we stand openly for this. This is why Hungary has become the target of international attacks,”

he reiterated.

Pro-Ukrainian forces were deeply embedded even in the highest levels of the leadership of the army, he added. The Prime Minister is pleased that one of the most serious cases of infiltration was uncovered in time, but he is not happy about the debate because he believes it is good to keep the armed forces as far away from politics as possible. “It would be good to put an end to this as soon as possible,” he stated.

According to Prime Minister Orbán, Brussels and Ukraine are jointly building a puppet government with which they want to change Hungary’s policy towards Ukraine. Hungary would thus have a pro-Brussels government, and a pro-war Defense Minister. “Let there be no doubt that Tisza (Péter Magyar’s main opposition party) and the Democratic Coalition (Demokratikus Koalíció-DK) are also openly on Ukraine’s side,” he emphasized.

As he said, Poland has not been as fortunate politically as we have been over the past 16 years, with a succession of governments. Now there is a liberal government in power, but in the meantime a patriotic president has been elected, referring to Karol Nawrock’s recent victory.

The Narcotics Epidemic Is Being Addressed

Orbán said that a wildfire-like infection had spread across Hungary. The Prime Minister pointed out that designer drugs have appeared on the market and have become so cheap that they are cheaper than alcohol. Mr Orbán believes that this profit-driven epidemic had ruined poor families. The government has mobilized billions of forints, conducted numerous operations, and seized large quantities of drugs, valuables, and cash in recent months. This is a well-established network, and the Prime Minister is determined to dismantle it. Last week the government voted to allocate additional resources to expand the operations.
