An open-air photo exhibition of Hungary’s rich fauna, titled “Nature Trail,” opened on Sunday on the Promenade of the Budapest City Park (Városliget). The exhibition, aimed primarily at children, is a selection of photos submitted to the Hungary 365 competition.
“The quality and intentions of this compilation are no less than those of the annual Hungary 365 photo exhibition. There are no separate nature photographs for children and adults, there is only photography,” said photographer Ottó Kaiser in his opening speech. The curator of the exhibition, who is also the jury chairman of Hungary 365, said that the aim of the exhibition was to present a kind of “outdoor storybook” for children. He added that
the idea for the exhibition came to the jury members of the photo competition when they came across many outstanding photographs of the rich material, containing tens of thousands of pieces, offering marvellous insight into the wonderful lives of animals.
The photo trail, on display until December 8, features 81 images.
The nature photographs on display will take visitors to the realms of birds, deer, small furry creatures, and all kinds of friendly little animals.
The pictures are special because they were all taken by photographers who love and research nature.
Imre Potyó, environmental scientist, nature photographer, and jury member of Hungary 365, said:
Hungary’s wildlife is outstanding in Europe and the wider region, as many different habitats and landscapes meet here.”
“Our huge forests, rock formations, caves, vast expanses of wilderness, lakes, wetlands, and marshes have created an incredibly diverse wildlife. It is very important that children learn about our animals as soon as possible, because what we learn about, we will sooner or later protect,” explained the expert.
