The Prime Minister’s son, Gáspár Orbán, is a highly qualified Hungarian military officer who has graduated from the Sandhurst Military Academy in the UK. He is currently participating in the preparation of a mission to Chad, as announced by Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, according to hirado.hu.

stated the Minister, adding that “the Captain is in excellent health.”

On January 13th, Minister of the Armed Forces Dago Yacoub received a Hungarian delegation in Chad. Discussions revolved around military cooperation between Chad and Hungary, covering training, armaments, and the exchange of experience. In a picture, Gáspár Orbán is seen in civilian clothes as a member of the Hungarian delegation.

Fact

In November 2023, the Hungarian Parliament approved the military engagement of the Hungarian Defence Forces in Chad. A military contingent of the Hungarian Defence Forces, consisting of up to 200 personnel (in rotation 400), equipped with the necessary technical means, weapons, and equipment, will be stationed in the Republic of Chad until December 31, 2025. The mission aims to provide advice, support, and battlefield mentoring, protect Hungarian citizens and interests, and assist in the fight against terrorism, in cooperation with allied international forces if necessary. The mission has been officially requested of Hungary by the President of Chad.
